What is Outrun Hunger?
In 2011, we launched our 5K charity race to raise money to feed 100 lakes region families during the holiday season. Today, Outrun Hunger is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization and has raised a total of $308,163 and helped feed 11,922 families right here in our community. Best of all, 100% of the donations/registrations are gifted to our partnering food pantries, Hospitality House Food Pantry of Commerce and Open Door Outreach Center of Waterford. Our goal every year is to be a catalyst for “outrunning hunger” in the Lakes Region of Southeast Michigan.
When is Outrun Hunger 2026
This years race - the 16th annual Outrun Hunger - takes place Saturday, November 14 at 10:00am. This year, our goal is to raise $37,000 to feed 822 families!

Outrun Hunger 2025
It was an amazing day all the way around, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We thought you'd like to know the results from Outrun Hunger 2025. Because of your gracious efforts, together we:
Raised $36,128 for our partnering pantries (goal was $35,000)
Provided 722 families a holiday meal (goal was 700)
Registered 415 runners/walkers
Recruited 64 volunteers from our community
Received contributions from 126 donors
Benefited from the support of 25 sponsors
Exciting results, but our job isn't done. According to our partnering organizations, they served 1,214 families, representing 4,762 individuals, including 1,238 children, distributing 306,211 pounds of food during November and December 2025. The “demand” often overwhelms the supply.
